I’m a mom too. Those Pinterest worthy photos in all their glory. In theory, they sound lovely. In reality, they can feel like a lot of work. The work to coordinate the outfits, plan out the nap schedules, wipe all the faces, keep everyone in a good mood, then actually have time for yourself to look presentable… It can be a lot. I’ve heard of so many people who avoid pictures altogether for these reasons and I. Get. It.
My advice: Book the sessioN
Just book it. Tell yourself you’re going to schedule it and just do it. When the day comes, if the outfits aren’t Pinterest perfect, it’s OKAY. The people in them WILL be. The proof of mom who is always behind the camera taking phone pictures of her kids instead of in front and cuddling with them. Dad getting to be the superhero he is, the ultimate playmate who can toss kids in the air over and over and over again. Your babies’ sweet faces that agonizingly continue to change year after year. No matter where you’re at, it will be perfect because you’ll be honoring the season that you’re in. Maybe it’s messy and tiring but I can promise you when you look back, you’ll see how those chubby little cheeks have now started to take shape. How your once only child has transformed into the helpful older sibling. How through the chaos of it all you really have been doing such important work in raising these tiny humans. I see it happening in my own home and I am blessed to see it with my clients year after year. What a bittersweet and beautiful thing. Don’t let it slip by because life happens. Book it.
